ENDOCRINE SOCIETY CASE STUDY

Medical Society reaches out via webcast

The Endocrine Society asked GC to webcast its annual press conferences so that its research could be immediately accessed by major medical journals throughout the world. Among the major media outlets that attended the webcasts broadcast from Toronto in 2007 and San Francisco in 2008 were NBC News, Reuters, Canadian Press and the Globe and Mail.

GC also webcasting the 2009 conference from Washington and 2010 event from San Diego.

The webcasts were viewed by global members and partners of the Society including Washington University, the American Physical Therapy Association, the National Association of Science Writers and the University of Bonn. In all, over 2,500 health media reporters and editors, medical institutions, pharmaceutical company representatives and researchers have viewed the live and recorded webcasts.

The live webcasts included a real-time text chat allowing viewers to send in questions that were answered by expert panelists.

To customize the web interface, GC created the URL endowebcasting.com. GC also emailed all of registered users to keep them informed of what topics were coming up next. The email updates proved crucial in ensuring high online attendance.
